What's New This Season?
Artist-In-Residence Program
Beginning in Fall 2024, MCG Jazz is launching an Artist-In-Residence program with pianist, composer Ray Angry. He will perform as a part of the season and contribute to other programming throughout the season and work closely with local young musicians through workshops, masterclasses, and mentorship opportunities.
Friday Night Series
Starting with our Artist-In-Residence Ray Angry, we will have a four show Friday Night Series. These concerts will have a 7PM Friday show and a 6PM Saturday show.

Experience a world premiere composition by our Artist-In-Residence in celebration of Pittsburgh Jazz! Enjoy the virtuoso piano talents of Ray with the seasoned Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra. After the concert we are inducting eight Pittsburgh Jazz Legends to join the likes of Roger Humphries, Joe Negri, Dwayne Dolphin, Etta Cox, and many others. Followed by a free reception for all!

Titans of contemporary jazz and longtime friends Lee Ritenour and Dave Grusin perform works from their new album BRASIL, a “bracing survey of contemporary Brazilian sounds.” Ritenour has had an impressive career as a guitarist with over 40 albums, a Grammy, and many other awards. Grusin, active in music since the late 1950s, is an Academy Award winner, 10-time Grammy winner and regarded as one of the true legends in Jazz.
