GRAMMY®-Winning Molly Miller

Brings Soulful Strings & Surf-Soaked Jazz to Pittsburgh

With Three Shows This Week!

You may know Molly Miller as the guitar-slinging powerhouse behind Jason Mraz, but she’s so much more—and MCG Jazz is thrilled to welcome her to Pittsburgh this week for a mini-residency that spotlights her many talents as a GRAMMY®-winning guitarist, educator, and all-around musical force.

Molly’s Pittsburgh takeover includes three must-see performances with her acclaimed Molly Miller Trio:

🎸 June 10 – BNY Mellon Presents JazzLive at Katz Plaza
🎸 June 11 – Live at Con Alma
🎸 June 13 – Opening for BPM at South Park Amphitheater

Rumor has it that a few lucky MCG Jazz staffers might even snag

a quick guitar lesson from the maestro herself—how cool is that?!?

So, who is Molly Miller?

A Los Angeles-based guitarist with a sophisticated, rootsy-meets-surf-rock sound, Molly has toured the world and shared stages with artists like Black Eyed Peas, Pomplamoose, and Sin Bandera, performing everywhere from Coachella to the Royal Albert Hall. Her signature style is warm, expressive, and unmistakably her own.

Offstage, she’s a dedicated educator with a Doctorate in Musical Arts from USC, where she’s also a Professor of Studio Guitar. She chairs the Guitar Department at the Los Angeles College of Music, blending her performance and academic work into a dynamic, influential career. Whether you’re a jazz fan, a guitar nerd, or just someone who appreciates killer musicianship, Molly Miller’s shows this week are not to be missed.

The Latest: The Ballad of Hotspur

Molly Miller Trio’s newest album, The Ballad of Hotspur, is an evocative instrumental Americana-jazz journey layered with surf rock, blues, and folk textures. Written during the creative stillness of the pandemic and recorded live at Valentine Studios with engineer Jason Wormer (T Bone Burnett), the album captures the magic of real-time chemistry between Molly and bandmates Jennifer Condos and Jay Bellerose. From the bluesy soul of “Cine” to the Western-jazz hybrid “66 West,” the record tells a story that’s cinematic, moody, and deeply personal—no words needed.

A Career Built on Passion and Purpose

Miller's path through the music world has been beautifully organic. She

describes it as a career led by curiosity, grounded in connection,

                   and driven by joy.

Whether she’s teaching aspiring artists, leading her trio through genre-bending

compositions, or backing some of the biggest names in pop, jazz, and funk, Molly                Miller is shaping what it means to be a modern jazz guitarist.

Her discography so far includes: The Ballad of Hotspur (2024), St. George (2021), Disney Guitar: The Molly Miller Sessions (2020), Collaborations with Jason Mraz, Sin Bandera, LACES, Pomplamoose, Sammy Miller & the Congregation, and more
