We are thrilled to share that Max Leake’s latest album, Threads, has climbed to #9 on the JazzWeek charts this week!

This "Top 10" milestone is a powerful recognition of Max's extraordinary artistry and dedication. Threads is not just a collection of songs—it’s a deeply personal project that reflects his amazing journey, from early days on the Hammond B3 organ to decades of collaboration with some of the most remarkable musicians in jazz. Each track tells a story, capturing moments that have shaped Max as both a musician and a human being.

The album pays homage to the people and influences that have shaped Max’s musical life. Each song in this two-disc collection was carefully, artfully chosen for its role in his creative history & musical development, weaving a sonic tapestry of connection, memory, experience, and expression.

Over the years, Max Leake has recorded and performed with legends such as Stanley Turrentine, Roger Humphries, Dwayne Dolphin, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and Slide Hampton—solidifying his place in both the jazz world and Pittsburgh’s rich musical legacy.

Max began performing professionally in Pittsburgh by the age of 15, and by 18, was touring nationally with groups like The Ink Spots and The Marcels. He has poured his heart and soul into Threads—and it shows. The music resonates far beyond Pittsburgh, blending the roots of tradition with fresh, expressive energy that speaks to jazz lovers everywhere.

We’re especially proud that Threads was recorded and produced right here at MCG Jazz, further reflecting our mission to present, preserve, and promote jazz at the highest level. It’s an honor to be part of Max’s musical legacy—and to see it celebrated on a national scale.
