Join us for a remarkable evening of music and artistry with Tamara Tunie, celebrated actor, vocalist, and MCG Jazz Artist-in-Residence.
Tunie starred for 21 seasons as Dr. Melinda Warner on Law & Order: SVU and currently stars as Anita Dupree on CBS’s groundbreaking drama Beyond the Gates. A Pittsburgh native and Carnegie Mellon alum, her career spans television, film, Broadway, directing, and producing.
Special Guest, Christian Sands (piano) Steinway Artist and five-time GRAMMY® nominee, will be sharing the stage with Tamara Tunie. Sands' bold, modern sound blends post-bop, blues, gospel, and cinematic influences.
The two of them will be joined by an extraordinary ensemble: Mike Tomaro (saxophone) – Pittsburgh jazz legend, acclaimed composer and arranger, former Director of Jazz Studies at Duquesne University, and inductee into the Pittsburgh Jazz Legends Hall of Fame. Ian Ashby (bass) – Internationally performing bassist and composer, Oberlin College & Conservatory graduate, with credits including the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, New York Voices, and Manhattan Transfer. Jason Washington Jr. (drums) – Pittsburgh native, dynamic drummer, and dedicated educator whose roots in church and jazz education shape his powerful, community-centered approach.
